A Despacho is an ‘offering bundle’ that is put together in a sacred ceremony and then 'given' to Pachamama (Mother Earth) for healing and manifestation of our deepest desires. This act of harmonizing with nature is done by engaging yourselves in sacred Ayni, a spiritual act of reciprocity with the energies of the Universe. Just as in the physical world when we give, we receive, so it is in the spiritual-energetic world where the same Universal principle applies.
The components used for the Despacho are physical and spiritual; tangible and intangible and they represent what is part of our lives now. Before closing the Despacho ‘offering bundle’, you place your intentions into a sacred coca leaf and pass it on to Linda to add to the Despacho.
The Despacho Ceremony
The Despacho is an Ancient spiritual ceremony that focuses on the multifaceted spiritual heritage of the Q’ero Shaman and other Inca descendant’s in the Andes region.
The people of the Andes maintain a unique way of relating to and reconnecting themselves to nature and live harmoniously with it. They inherently recognise the importance of expressing gratitude to the Creator and to all the essential components of all life - Earth (soil, plants, and animals), Fire (Sun, vitality), Air (wind, breeze) and Water (rain, snow, rivers). They know that without any one of these, all life would cease to exist. They too recognise the need for balance in life – the interdependence of the masculine and feminine and the undeniable interconnectedness between us and all others within the Universe. All natural principles are embodied in the Despacho ceremony.
More than 200 different types of Despachos have been recorded and there are many reasons one would like to have a Depacho Ceremony performed, such as for Ayni (reciprocity), Gratitude, Manifestation, Healing, Marriages, Naming Ceremonies, Passing of a loved-one, Protection, Success, Business, etc. All Despacho ceremonies are performed by Andean Pampa Mesayoq Initiates and Higher.
Generally a Despacho Ceremony is performed to honour Pachamama (Mother Earth), the ‘Apus’ - nature spirits that may take the form of mountains, rivers or lakes and the Universal energies.
